悟公上人略传 An Introduction to Venerable Master Wudao

　　悟道法師，俗姓韓，1921年農曆11月11日生於浙江省岱山縣岱東鎮。法師自幼隨母茹素念佛，善根深植，十四歲於寧波永豐寺禮宏順法師剃度，法名惟茂，字悟道。歷任普陀山普濟寺首座、天臺山國清寺首座、新昌大佛寺方丈、普陀山佛學院副院長、浙江省佛教協會常務理事、紹興市佛教協會會長。並先後兼任近二十所寺院的方丈或名譽方丈。法師梵行高潔，淨業精純，猶重毗尼，受請數度傳戒于浙江高明、天童、法雨及臺灣妙通諸刹，戒子盈千，皈依弟子遍於四海。

　　2005年11月26日在圓滿了弘法利生的事業之後示寂於故鄉岱山的慈雲極樂寺方丈室，世壽八十五歲，戒臘七十二夏。上人乃現證三身垂化三界之大士，是為世間道德之楷模，眾生離苦之津梁。然本跡莫測，密行難思，掬海一滴，以饗有緣。

Great Master Wudao was born on the 11th of the 11th month of the lunar year, 1921 on the Daishan Island of the East Sea, Zhejiang province. He became a vegetarian like his mother at the age of 11. At the age of 14, he began his monkhood by following Great Master Hongshun in Yongfeng Monastery in Ningbo and was given a Buddhist name Wudao. He was successively appointed Chief Master of Puji Monastery of Mount Putuo, Chief Master of GuoqingMonastery, Abbot of the Great Buddha Monastery in Xinchang, Vice President of Buddhist Academy of Mount Putuo，Executive council member of Zhejiang Buddhist Association and Chairman of Shaoxing Buddhist Association. During this period of time, he also took the post of Abbot or Honorary Abbot of about 20 monasteries successively. The senior master is of noble character and high prestige. He observed commandments strictly and focused on the Pure Land Sect. For many years, he warmly transmitted the three refuges & the five commandments and had numerous disciples both at home and abroad.

On 26th November 2005 Great Master Wudao manifested nirvana in his hometown Daishan after fulfilling the career of dharma propagation and life benefiting at the age of 85 and 72 years of monkhood. He is an outstanding example of morality in the world and the support of living beings for freedom. His achievement is profound and his practice is incredible. Our script is as a drop from the sea to entertain all those responsive to Buddhas.
