A man with great virtue deserves great fortune
孔子问道于老子
有千金的人，必有千金之德。反过来说，小人如果发一笔财，因为他的德行不够，对他来说反而是祸。所以，我们不能光想着求佛来满足我们的贪欲，我们要多听佛的教导，增长自己的德行，那才有可能福报增长，获得财富。古今中外都不乏这样的例子。一个人如果品德不够，财富会给他带来灾祸；一个人有德，财富在他手中，还可帮助他人和社会，制造善业更增加他的福报。
We should not only pray to the Buddha in the hope of gaining a lot of money. We only expect the Buddha to listen to us and fulfilour requests, but have we ever listened to the Buddha and followed the Buddha’s teaching? For someone without a noble mind, making a great fortune can be a disaster. In contrast, the possession of material wealth is beneficial to those who arevirtuous.
做事要做对得起天地良心，不损害别人，赚钱要赚问心无愧。人生几十年很短暂的，按照佛法去修就是自在，种种的吉祥会降临在我们身上。人生很苦的，我们的命运真正就是从自己脚下走出来的。
We should guide our actions with integrity and never cause harm to others, particularly in the case of making money. By practicing Buddha-dharma properly, we will be able to live a comfortable life and all sorts of good fortune will be bestowed upon us. Life is full of suffering, but we can make changes through our efforts.
