　 【 若有众生,恭敬礼拜观世音菩萨,福不唐捐。是故众生皆应受持观世音菩萨名号。 】有时候, 我们好像觉得自己没有被苦难逼迫, 我们想求福, 当然求福也可以, 你恭敬礼拜观世音菩萨, 自然福不唐捐, 一定会有结果的。 “恭敬” 是我们身、 口、意三业都要恭敬。“礼拜” 也分好几种, 有身的礼拜,有意的礼拜。 礼拜主要是折服我慢, 放下我执。

　　文殊菩萨讲: 礼拜要以恭敬心、 虔诚心、 惭愧心去礼拜, 如果是散乱心或轻慢心, 不但没福反而有过。《大解脱经》 中说: 顶礼合掌的时候, 双手要形如含苞待放的莲花, 手掌并非完全合拢; 站起来时身体要端直, 也即平时所说的身直则脉直, 脉直则风直, 风直则心直; 跪下去时要五体投地, 站起来后又这样顶礼。佛对阿难说: 作一次这样的顶礼, 可获得身下所压面积至金刚大地之间所有微尘数量的转轮王位, 并且善根不会穷尽。

If someone shows reverence to, and bows to worship, Guan Yin Bodhisattva, the blessedness he acquires will not be vain. Therefore, everyone should receive and uphold the holy name of Guan Yin Bodhisattva.Sometimes we do not feel pressed by sufferings and would like to pray for blessedness. Of course, we can do that only if we show reverence and bow to worship Guan Yin Bodhisattva, and then we will acquire blessedness without any doubt.‘Reverence’ requires us to offer the Bodhisattva our body, speech and mind.There are several different kinds of worship-- worship of body, worship of mind and etc. The purpose of worship is to overcome our arrogance and discard ourself-attachment.

Manjusri Bodhisattva says, ‘One should worship with reverence, sincerity and a confessing mind. If you worship with a distracted mind or arrogance, then sins rather than blessedness will result.’ The Grand Liberation Sutra teaches: when you worship with your palms together, they should form the shape of a lotus bud that is going to blossom. The palms should not be firmly pressed together. Your body should be upright when you stand. As your body is upright, the Channels in your body will become upright and so does the Wind inside you. As the Wind is upright, your mind becomes upright too. The four limbs of your body as well as forehead need to touch the ground when you prostrate. When you stand up, you worship in this way again. The Buddha told Ananda that by worshipping even once in this way, we shall become a Wheel-turning King as many times as the number of all the fine dust between the ground that your body covers and the Diamond Earth, where the root of goodness will never be depleted.
