英文时分：《永恒的甘露》--《妙法莲华经—普门品》讲记（十九） 传喜法师宣讲

　　【 若为大水所漂,称其名号,即得浅处。 】称观世音菩萨名号, 就是掉到大水里, 也能 “即得浅处” 获救。 观世音菩萨在因地修行闻性, 耳朵听而不闻,不随外境的声尘而去, 反闻闻自性。 学中医的都知道, 肾属水, 开窍于耳, 耳识的分别如果消失的话, 内在的水就息灭, 内水一息, 外水不侵。 观世音菩萨得到这样的功德, 就能加被一切众生, 令众生纵使掉到水里, 都能得到解脱。

　　我现在讲这部经用的讲义是圆瑛老法师的。 圆瑛老法师祂自己就遇到过这样一桩事情: 祂以前常住在宁波, 上海也有道场。 一次祂在上海带了很多法器、 法物乘船回宁波, 船快到港了, 一不小心撞在浮桥上, 当下就翻船了, 法师落在水里。祂深信观世音菩萨, 心里就默念观世音菩萨名号, 这时听到有个声音告诉祂: 抓住船不要放。 祂听到这个声音后, 就一直抓着船帮不放。因为退潮时船退得很快, 漂下去很远, 后来船被打捞起来, 人也跟着船被救了上来。 法师切身体会到: 念观世音菩萨名号, 虽然掉到水里也不要紧。

Eternal （Lecture on the Guan Yin Bodhisattva Universal Door）（19）

If one who is a drift in mighty waters invokes the holy name of Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva, then he /she will soon reach the shallows. If one invokes the name of Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva, he /she will soon reach the shallows and thus be saved, even if they are in mighty waters. This is because Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva gained the ability of hearing by practice on the causal ground. It enabled Him to listen without being distracted by the external environment and to contemplate inwardly upon self-nature. People who have studied Traditional Chinese Medicine know that the attribution of the kidney is water, and the kidney opens upon ears .Once the discrimination of hearing disappears, the internal water inside us will calm down, which makes us impenetradable by the external water. Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva has gained such merits so that He can empower all beings and liberate those who fall into water.

My lecture notes of the Lotus Sutra are based on the teaching from Master Yuanying. The master had such an experience himself: He used to live in Ningbo while he was in charge of a temple in Shanghai, at the same time. Once he took lots of ritual accoutrements and other Dharma treasures from Shanghai to Ningbo by boat. Before the boat reached the port, it crashed into a bridge and capsized. The Master fell into the water. Since he had very strong faith in Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva, he invoked the name of the Bodhisattva silently. Then he heard a voice telling him to hold on the boat tightly. So he did. The boat drifted far away because the tide ebbed quickly and it moved the boat. In the end, the boat was salvaged and the master was rescued. Based on his own experience, the master understood deeply that people who fall into water will be safe as long as they invoke the name of Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva.
