聆听传喜法师诉说佛法
attended an experience camp.
体悟天地大道的精髓
Master Chuanxi gave Dharma lectures, and they experienced
感受纯粹的佛教文化
the essence of the universe and the purity of Buddhist culture.
采菊东篱下 悠然见南山
"Picking chrysanthemum along the east hedgerow,
I see Mount Nan unexpectedly.
山气日夕佳 飞鸟相与还
The mountain becomes more beautiful under sunset,
and the flying birds return home together.”
千年已逝 南山 今夕何在
Thousands of years have passed by, is Mount Nan still there?
可曾还有心远地自偏的五柳先生
Is the heart that once longed for peace still there?
茫茫大千
In the vast universe and generation after generation,
滑过多少百代过客的声声叹息
how many sighs of people have slipped by?
2014年上半年
Since the first half of 2014,
上海复旦大学的老师们
the professors of Fudan University
就开始寻找一方世外桃源
have been looking for an idyllic land.
因缘际会之时
When the seed of cause and effect ripened,
恍如海市蜃楼一般
like a castle in the air,
宁波慧日禅寺就这样
Huiri Temple emerged
在尘海中荡漾而出
as a mirage in the dust.
四十多名上海复旦大学
Over 40 students studying the EMBA program
总裁提升班的学员将在这里
at Fudan University
完成一次近距离的寺院生活
would experience life at a temple
体验之旅和寻根之旅
and seek for their root.
山不在高有仙则灵
“A hill is famous so long as there are celestial beings;
水不在深有龙则灵
the water becomes holy if there is a dragon".
座落在宁波市鄞州区瞻歧镇
Huiri Temple, which is located at Dong yi Village
东一村的宁波慧日禅寺
of Zhan qi Town(Yinzhou District) of Ningbo,
始建于明朝万历年间
has over a thousand years of history
距今已有一千多年的历史
It was built during the Period of Wanli in Ming Dynasty.
8月1日上午还是晴空朗朗
On the 1st of August, the sun shone out of a clear azure sky.
随着台风娜基莉的北上
With the Typhoon Nakri moving up to the North,
将近中午寺院上空密云滚滚
the clouds started gathering
骤降骤停的阵雨横扫多日的闷热
and the occasional showers followed.
天气顿时清凉起来
Soon, days of heat collected suddenly cooled down.
直至下午四点
Students from across the country
从全国各地纷纷赶来的学员们
arrived at the temple one after another
陆陆续续地抵达慧日禅寺
till 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
这一边 复旦大学率队的老师
On the one hand, the team leader of Fudan University
和义工们忙着接待学员
and other volunteers were busy welcoming the participants
那一边 寺院里面的四众
while on the other, the monks and lay Buddhists
已经开始进行晚课的讽诵
started their evening chanting session.
天空细雨微濛
A light drizzle was falling
偶有脆脆风铃声
accompanied by the occasional sound of wind chimes
和着悠扬的蝉声划空而过
and the buzz of cicadas.
傍晚时分 三圣殿前
In the evening in front of the Hall of Western Three Saints,
一曲《涅槃如莲》袅袅入耳
the beautiful sound of a song "Attaining Nirvana like Lotus" was echoing
声声沁心
and touching the very bottom of everyone's heart.
拉开了商界精英
It started the camp to experience Buddhist culture
亲近佛教文化的序幕
for the cream of commercial world.
我的心带给你一条溪水
"My heart brings you a stream,
纵横交错出诗的画面
it creates a crisscrossed appearance described in poetry.
仰望琉璃的湖面
Looking up to the glazed surface of the lake,
白云如莲花在升起
the white clouds rose like lotus into the sky
日月撒下芬芳的光明
while the sun and the moon sprinkled fragrance of brightness."
汩汩清流周遍全身
Suddenly, we could feel a stream of freshness passing through our body
白莲花的芬芳飘然而来
and smell an aroma lingering around the temple.
不禁慨叹这世间最不俗不染的
We realized then, the purest feelings in the world
真情是来自剃除了须发的出家人
came through to us from the third jewel, the Sangha.
晚六时整
At six in the evening,
传喜法师开始举行蒙山超度法会
Master Chuanxi initiated Mengshan Soul Releasing ceremony.
恰逢农历七月
In the seventh month of the lunar calendar,
佛教的孝亲报恩月
the month of paying gratitude to our ancestors,
法会以佛教的特有方式
the ceremony expresses the fine Chinese tradition
来报答父母宗亲的恩情
of filial piety according to the Buddhist culture.
佛教的智慧
The wisdom of Buddhism
融合了中国传统的祖宗信仰
integrates its belief with that of filial piety.
法师的慈悲
The master’s kindness
使学员们与自己历代的宗亲
reminded the students of
联结起来
their own ancestors.
蒙山超度
“The Mengshan Soul Releasing
是佛教文化当中
is a part of Buddhist culture
孝亲文化的一种表达方式
expressing the tradition of filial piety
就是通过庄严的仪轨
through the conduct of a solemn ritual
和大家的一颗真诚忏悔之心
accompanied by our sincere heart of repentance
以诸佛菩萨的慈悲愿力
and the powerful, compassionate vow of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
把大家的历代宗亲
We could 'migrate' the clan of our ancestors
移民到更好的地方去
to a better place.
我们每个人来到这个世间
The very existence of us
都是因缘和合而生
is attached to the karmic effect
都流淌着每个家族的
and we carry with us
千年基因和传承
thousands of years of genes and inheritance.
佛门讲六道众生 就是因为
In Buddhism, we talk about the six realms of existence.
虽然我们的先祖和一些长辈
Therefore, although our ancestors
已经仙逝
have passed away long ago,
但他们绝大多数
most of them
还在受轮回之苦
might still be suffering in samsara.
我们此生为人身
We are lucky to be born as human in this life
能够来到寺院进行生活体验
and have such a great opportunity to experience life in a temple.
就首先体验一下佛教的生命观
We must first experience the view of life
把大家的祖辈送到好地方
from the perspective of Buddhism. Sending our ancestors
这是真正的大孝
to a better place is truly an act of filial piety."
这时空中细雨霏霏
There was drizzle from the sky then.
那是菩萨普洒如霖的甘露吗
Is this the nectar sprinkled by the Bodhisattvas?
还是冥冥众生的感恩之泪
Or is it the tear of gratefulness from the unseen beings?
佛教文化既古老
"The ancient Buddhist culture
而又充满青春活力
is full of the vigor of youth.
它是中华文化的重要组成部分
It is an important part of the Chinese culture.
寺院则是传承几千年佛教文化
Temples inherit thousands of years of Buddhist culture
和造福社会的平台
and provide a platform to create a better society.
在寺院里 生活就是学习
In the temple, living is about learning,
就是修行
it is a way to practice Buddhism."
传喜法师一袭明黄僧衣
Master Chuanxi wore a bright yellow kasaya,
端坐在法座上继续娓娓道来
sitting upright and continued teaching patiently.
我们一般的人
"In this modern society, people view success as making money
以得到为成功 以占有为快乐
and perceive possession as happiness.
但是当一个人发展到
When a person develops
一定境界的时候
to a certain state,
他会发现
he will realize that
一个生命的真正的成功
success should come from
是对自我的克服
being able to overcome oneself
是对自我的战胜
and to control one’s emotion
而不是对自我的放纵
rather than to indulging oneself
甚至是对自我的满足
or even self-satisfaction.
当一个生命发展到这个的时候
Usually a person
你都是喜欢要得到
feels happy
你以得到为快乐
when he gets what he wants.
我以奉献为快乐的时候
When we can derive happiness
那奉献的人已经比他的生命
through giving and helping others,
比前面得到的人生命更成熟了
our lives become more mature."
但是你做这样行为的时候
But such behavior
前面的人他是不理解你的
won’t be understood by the kind of people mentioned above.
将近两个小时的法会
Every participant was fully concentrated
没有一个人左顾右盼
throughout the two-hour ceremony.
众人或是细心聆听
They all listened very carefully
法师的谆谆教诲
to Master’s teachings.
或是在僧众们忽而高亢
They also sang and chanted
忽而低沉的唱诵中
loud or low
亦步亦趋地随声和唱
along with the monks.
谁没有家族宗亲
Who do not have clan of ancestors?
谁身上流淌的
The thick blood that flows through our body, comes from
不是祖先一脉相承的浓浓赤血
the inheritance of our ancestors generation after generation,doesn't it?
就算不明白经咒梵呗的涵义
Even though they did not understand the Buddhist chants and mantras,
但在此刻的氛围里
at this very moment,
能生起一颗敬畏之心
a feeling of respect
涌上一股感恩之情
and gratefulness arose
流下一滴忏悔之泪
and a drop of tears of repentance fell.
为历代宗亲眷友拜忏祈福
They prayedfor the well-being of their ancestors.
足以敞开尘劳久封的心扉
Their hearts which were once closed
洗涤垢染麻木的心灵
and filled with dusts were now wide opened and cleansed.
俯看天下熙熙皆为利来
In the world of business, people chase
天下攘攘皆为利往 的滚滚商海
behind their self-interest
人生的处境如波涛跌宕起伏
and pass through ups and downs just like great waves of the ocean.
可有片纸清净无尘的立锥之地
Is there a tiny piece of pure land where people could rest upon?
平生只在这慧日禅寺
At Huiri Temple, let us feel and experience whole-heartedly
全身心地感受着俗世红尘里的
its pureness amongst the worldly society.
一片净土 如梦如幻
It is a dreamlike realm
似凡却圣的境界
that seems ordinary but indeed holy.
心似汪洋海 恰逢一慧舟
Our hearts are like the ocean,
but fortunately we met this boat of wisdom.
铁床塑筋骨 彻夜竟香眠
Though sleeping on the iron beds,
the sleep was sound and sweet the whole night through
