没有独立存在的事物 No Beings Exist Independently

　　我为什么要讲心和心是连着的呢？这就告诉我们一个道理：这世界上没有任何一个独立存在的事物，谁敢说我就是我，全世界我就是独一无二的？乍一想，似乎是对的，我是独一无二的嘛，乃至一颗树叶都没有相同的。但是你这所谓的独一无二，真的是“独一无二”的吗？是不是仰仗着众缘而和合成就的？我今天在这讲话，你们能听到，除了我的声音之外，是不是我也假借了这个麦克风，这个音响？我能讲出这些，也是老师教育我的；乃至讲到你、我这个身体，是父母的细胞分裂的对不对？你把所有的这些条件都去除后，哪里还有一个独立存在的“我”呢？

Why do I say that heart is connected to heart? It just tells us a truth: There is no being existing independently. Who can say that I am just myself? There is no being existing independently. Who can say that I am just myself and I am unique in this world? For the first thought, it seems correct, because I am different from others. Even each leaf in one tree is totally different, let alone human beings. However, is so-called “unique” real? All sentient beings exist with a certain conditions, don’t they? I am addressing you today and you all can hear me, however, my words you can hear not only come from my voice but also are processed with microphone and sound box, don’t they ? The reason why I have this perception is because my teacher told me that even your body and my body originate from the segmentation of our parents. Isn’t it right? If you eliminate all of these conditions, where does the “self” exist?
