月映千江，水里的月亮是从哪里来的？

　　【即时观世音菩萨愍诸四众及于天龙、人非人等，受其璎珞，分作二份，一份奉释迦牟尼佛，一份奉多宝佛塔。】观世音菩萨接过供养便把它分作两份，一份供养释迦牟尼佛, 一份供养多宝佛塔。为什么？观世音菩萨游诸国土, 种种化现方便之力从哪里来的？就像月映千江, 水里的月亮是从哪里来的？是天上的月亮映到水里来的。观世音菩萨无量百千万亿化身从哪里来的？是从释迦牟尼佛、多宝佛这里来的。就像我们很聪明能干，在外面做事情受人称赞, 我们从哪里来的？我们是父母生的对不对？所以要把赚来的钱供养孝敬父母。外面对你的称赞变成你光宗耀祖的事情, 明明是你做人受到赞叹, 为什么说成是光宗耀祖呢？你是父母养育大的, 父母还有父母所生, 对不对啊？不论干什么都有个所依，不能忘本。观世音菩萨给我们做了极好的榜样, 我们从这里也得到一个启发: 千万不能做坏人, 坏了自己, 还要连累父母；做好人也别忘了感恩, 报父母的养育之恩。

Thereupon Guan Yin Bodhisattva, having compassion for the four groups of Buddhists, the deva, naga, human and non-human beings and the others, accepted the necklace and, dividing it into two parts, presented one part to Shakyamuni Buddha and presented the other to the tower of the Buddha Many Treasures.

After Guan Yin Bodhisattva accepted the necklace, He divided it into two parts and offered one to Shakyamuni Buddha and the other to the tower of the Buddha Many Treasures. Why? Where does the expedient power of Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva come from that He is able to travel to different realms in different forms? Is it like the moonlight which shines over thousands of rivers. Where is the moon in the water from? It is the moon in the sky reflecting on the water. Where are the numerous embodiments of Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva from? They are from Shakyamuni Buddha and Buddha Many Treasures. It is like when we human beings are being praised by others for our ability and talent, we should know that it’s our parents that brought us into thisworld. So we should offer the money we earn to our parents. The praise from outside brings honour to your ancestors too. What’s the connection between the praise that you received and your ancestors? Being praised is supposed to be your own credit, what has it got to do with your ancestors? Because everything has its origin, we should not forget our roots. Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva has set us an example and inspired us: we should not be bad people; otherwise, not only will we bring bad fame to ourselves but also to our parents. Even if we are good people, we should not forget our parents for their grace of feeding and educating us.
