禅悦人生——复旦大学总裁班慧日禅寺体验之旅随记（中）
这次第有序骤然响起的打板声
The rhythmic knock on the board
响彻寺院的每个角落
spread in every corner of the temple
又幽幽传至朝气渐生的碧翠山谷
and could also be heard in the green valley.
大海之滨的寺院里
Along the seaside,
一线晨光微微萌动
the morning light streamed in the temple
天边犹然淡淡星辰
when stars were still glowing in the sky
微风挟裹凉意习习拂来
and the cool breeze was blowing gently.
而此时还不到凌晨四点
By then, it was hardly 4 o’clock in the morning.
出家人起得真早
Every day, Ascetic people get up very early
一年三百六十五日
and they keep the good practice constantly
日复一日 年复一年
throughout the whole year. They get up so early
在世界万物苏醒之前
that nothing else has yet awoken and start to chant
早早起来诵经持咒做早功课
sutras and mantras during the morning session.
除了对佛陀教法的虔诚信仰
There’s no better reason and motivation
和对众生解脱的强烈向往
for doing this than their deep belief in the Dharma
想不出更多的理由和动力
and strong wish for liberating all sentient beings.
作为寺院来说
In the temple,
早上很早就起来了
why do the Buddhists get up
为什么那么早啊
so early?
这个清洁工工作上班的时候
This is the time when the cleaners start working.
但是我们佛教那个时候
In Buddhism, the morning chanting session
也起到一种清洁的作用
in effect has a cleansing role.
清洁工是清扫马路
Cleaners sweep away rubbish
把物质的尘埃去掉
in the material world
我们佛教呢
while Buddhism
是把我们这个大脑里面的尘埃去掉
sweeps away dusts in human brain
精神里面的垃圾去掉
and clears the mental garbage.
我们要知道啊
We should notice that
这世界 在山里 在古刹之中
in the temple amid the mountain
有一群人
a group of people
早早地已经为这个世界在服务了
has started to serve the world
为我们这个世界
by tolling the bell,chanting sutras and mantras,
敲钟 击鼓 念咒 发心
beating drums and making vows.
所有的功课经里面
In all the sutras and mantras
没有一句是为自己念的
none of these are chanted for themselves
都是为这个世界 为众生念的
but for the world and all sentient beings
做一些很深沉的一些事情
in a deeper level.
适逢8月2日
Today, August 2nd,
中国传统的七夕节
is the Chinese Valentine’s Day
是牛郎织女一年一次
when the annual meeting
相约鹊桥的日子
of the cowherd and weaver girl is celebrated.
来自天南海北的我们
Coincidentally we, people from all over the country
相聚在慧日禅寺
gathered together at Huiri Temple on this romantic day.
三圣殿前
In front of the main hall,
身着海青的僧众 已经依次站好
ascetic people wearing the robe
开始念诵早课内容
were standing in a queue
经咒都是以佛教特有的梵呗形式唱出来
and started chanting
抑扬宛转 浅诵低吟
the sutras with a special rhythm.
都是感念诸佛菩萨的智慧
They were expressing gratitude for infinite wisdom
慈悲和大行大愿
and great vows of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and praying
或是祈求国泰民安和世界和平
for the country’s prosperity and the world peace.
群山环抱的慧日禅寺
Amid the peaks of the mountain, Huiri Temple is
梵音缭绕 翠鸟低鸣
surrounded by the sound of chanting and birds warbling.
偶尔还可以看见几只孔雀
From time to time, you can find a few peacocks
在道路上松林间优雅地踱步
walking along the path elegantly in the pines.
这里没有叱咤商海的运筹帷幄
You are free from mapping out a business strategy
无需逐鹿竞争的洞若观火
and keeping alert in fierce competition.
也许只有在这方难得的清静之地
Perhaps only in this peaceful place
心灵才可以完全释放
can the minds and souls be released completely
与真实的自己不期而遇
and the true self is met.
环视着眼前一张张宁静祥和的面庞
When you look around the peaceful faces,
他（她）们的明眸善睐里
you may find happiness and pureness in their bright eyes
写意着明月松间照 清泉石上流的
as the bright moon shines through the pines,
快乐与纯净
the clear stream flowing over the stones.
我们的心上眉梢间隽刻着
Meanwhile we had experienced
九曲黄河万里沙，浪淘风簸自天涯的风霜与沧桑
many vicissitudes of life.
没有快乐的成功
Success without happiness
也绝非真正的成功
cannot be defined as the real success.
成功与快乐的汇集之点
Hence where is the convergent point
又在哪里
between success and happiness?
中午十一时
At 11 before noon,
我们随着僧众队伍
we followed the monks
鱼贯般进入斋堂
to enter into the abstinence dining-hall
法师已经早早端坐在斋堂中央
and the Master was sitting in the middle
微笑着欢迎大家
to welcome us all.
用斋之前
Before dining,
大家先唱诵《供养咒》
we chanted the“Offering Mantras”
以美味珍馐供养诸佛菩萨
to offer delicious food to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
在一片肃穆的气氛中
In the solemn mood,
我们也都学着出家师们静默合掌
we put our palms together devoutly as monks did.
虽不知他们唱的是什么
Although we don’t know the meaning of their chanting,
只觉得凡尘中
we realized
早已司空见惯的吃饭
the common dining inmortal world
在佛门竟是如此讲究
had been paid great attention in Buddhism.
佛门斋堂名为 五观堂
The abstinence hall in the temple is called “Five Contemplations Dining Hall”.
五观里第一句是
Five contemplations are guidelines
计功多少 量彼来处
to be observed when we eat,
意思是 一粥一饭都要思维它的来之不易
which means “The food is a gift of hard working".
饭食之时 穿梭行堂
Receive the food offered by monks or laypersons.
手势示意 席间无语
Stop talking and use body language to communicate.
斋饭吃尽 不可浪费
Eat all the food in the dish without wasting.
自行盥洗 安静离座
Wash the dishes by ourselves once we finish eating.
躬身感恩
Leave the dining hall silently with gratitude.
几顿斋饭下来
The gratitude for every grain
粒粒皆辛苦的惜福感恩之情
that comes from hard work
油然而生
wells up in our heart.
下午一时半
At 1:30 in the afternoon,
慧日禅寺法堂
in the main hall
我们都在蒲团上 观息静坐
we were practicing a meditation on the futon
等待法师宣说法语
while waiting for Master’s enlightening teachings.
传喜法师正襟危坐在法座上
Master Chuanxi were sitting on the throne
先让我们做自我介绍之后
and listening to our self-introduction.
再自由提问
After that
与法师互动交流
we had a free discussion
这种倾听的姿态更让我们感到
with Master Chuanxi
拉近了与佛教的距离
who made us closer to Buddhism.
你们既是社会的中坚力量
You are the major force in the society
也是最辛苦的一个群体
and all work very hard.
从慈悲心流出的话语
The merciful consideration was like manna from heaven.
体贴人心 亲切温暖
Today is the Chinese Valentine’s Day
今天是七夕
when the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl
牛郎织女跨越千年到鹊桥相会
across the Magpies Bridge over millennia is celebrated.
我们今天来到寺庙里
We gather here today
未尝不是和佛陀的一场
which is also a meeting with Buddha
跨越千年的相见啊
over millennia.
要知道 这世上还有比世间爱情
Meanwhile, we should notice that
更深层次的一种情感
Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas’ compassion for sentient beings
那就是诸佛菩萨的慈悲
are deeper than love between man and woman in the world.
不忍众生苦
Buddha can not bear to see sentient beings suffering
佛陀期待我们这些游子回家
and is expecting His children to return back home
岂止千年万年啊
for incalculable and immeasurable
已经无量劫那么长的时间了
kalpas length of time.
今天很特别的一个日子七月七号
It is Chinese lunar calendar, July 7th is a festival today.
我们往往就觉得
We usually regard it as Chinese Valentine’s Day when
七夕是世间的这一种
We celebrate the meeting between the cowherd
甚至牛郎织女跨越银河的相见
and weaver girl across the Magpies Bridge.
当我们在世间思考那些情感的时候
When we think of such relationships,
还有比世间爱情
there’s a deeper passion than love
更深层次的一种情感
between man and woman in the world, which is
慈悲 不忍众生苦
Buddhas’ and Bodhisattvas' compassion for sentient beings.
那样子默默地关注着我们
They are watching us in silence.
我们好像是一个偶然的机会
What a coincidence it is
想一想怎么就来到寺院来了
that we came to the temple.
但是这个在佛的眼睛里
But in the eyes of Buddhas,
都是等待很久的
They have been expecting us for a very long time.
年年有七夕 今年在寺中
Each year, people celebrate Chinese Valentine’s Day
清清波水淡 却有千芙蓉
and on this day of this year we meet in the temple.
本以为今天可能会是一个
Wonderfully we see swaying lotuses in the pond.
情淡味寡的日子
We thought it would be a plain day
却不曾预料
but we encounter
会懈逅另一番的浓意蜜意
a unique feeling
那是觉悟的菩萨
of great love and compassion
没有分别的大爱和慈悲
from enlightened Bodhisattvas.
这个成功的人为什么来学佛了
Why do successful people come to study Buddhism?
以为我成功了我就会快乐
They may think they will be happy after achieving success.
快乐是一个精神范畴
However happiness is a spiritual concept
它不是物质的
which is not material object
它跟物质没有关系的
or related to material object.
那我们的心灵
The more our minds
如果被物质占据的更多之后
are occupied with material desires,
甚至我们的快乐会下降
the less happy we feel.
所以才需要放下啊 放下
Therefore please let go
就是把心灵的垃圾要放下
of the garbage in our minds
这个讲心灵垃圾的时候
This garbage that we mentioned
有可能我们的物质啊
includes material desires
我们的占有欲啊,这些都属于垃圾哦
and our possessiveness.
行到水穷处 坐看云起时
Stroll along the bank till the creek ends, sit down leisurely to watch clouds form.
云水相逢解心笑 携手化作人间雨
The particles of water unite and form clouds; then they fall down in the form of rain.
法师的一语中的
Master quoted the poems to explain the truth to the point
让我们知道方向的错误
that the wrong direction
是无法弥补的损失
is irreparable damage.
我们必须重新确立人生的方向
We must establish new direction in life
才能真正地放下
to truly let go
对社会 企业和员工
and shoulder on responsibilities to the society,
才能有真正的承担
enterprise and all the staff. Monks are shouldering
出家人提起了无我利他的道义担当
on responsibilities of benefiting others selflessly.
我们应该放下唯利是图的执著苦恼
We should let go of desires and anxiety of pursuing profit.
这一放一提 凡圣顿显
This makes it obvious to distinguish
令人茅塞顿开
between ordinary people and saints.
我们凡人是活在有限的时间
Ordinary people are living in limited time and space,
有限的空间 是不是
aren’t we?
那什么是圣人
How about saints?
圣人就是超越了有限的时间
Saints live
和有限的空间
beyond limited time and space.
凡人来说是在空间和时间面前
Ordinary people are constrained
是束缚的
and passive in front of time and space.
为什么我们要成圣人
Why do we want to be saints?
圣人就是在时间和空间面前
That’s because saints are transcendent
是自在的 是超越的
and free from time and space limits.
哪一个不管你怎么奋斗
No matter how you fight and
你奋斗到怎么为止
to which level
你跳出你时间空间的障碍了吗
can you jump out
你转变了你一个凡人的（特征）
from the limited time and space
你的本质上转变了吗
and change the nature of an ordinary person?
没有转变
The nature has not been changed.
只要你没有转变 你是个凡人
You are still an ordinary person
你是个可怜者
and you are poor
你跳不出时间和空间
because you can’t jump out from time and space.
我们这一次至少我们来到寺院
At least we arrive at the temple this time,
要认识这么一个文化现象
to learn to know this cultural phenomenon.
对这个文化现象
You should have
有一个正确的认知
a right comprehension
一种价值判断
of a value judgment.
你有了这个正确的判断了
Once you obtain the right judgment,
我想这个两天就成功了
you will achieve a great deal in these two days.
这社会上有一句话叫
An idiom says that
不在于你在什么位置
the value lies not in what position you hold
而在于你是朝什么方向
but in the direction you are heading for.
谆谆法音 荡彻心海
Master Chuanxi inspired our soul
法师多以比喻诠释佛法大义
in simple metaphors to explain the profound Dharma.
切望我们这些在迷途上
He hopes to make
奔波的人慢慢领悟
struggling sentient beings understand
真正的成功
the real success
是内心的清净和祥和
rests upon the achievement of inner peace.
于百转千回处的蓦然回首
Find your true self in the fierce and frightening storm
于惊涛骇浪中的波澜不惊
after experiencing innumerable twists and turns.
晚斋过后
After the dinner,
传喜法师饶有兴致地带领大家
Master Chuanxi taught us
体验了一次佛门中独有的游戏
a unique game called
凭心寻宝
“Treasure Hunting by Intuition”.
参加游戏的人
Participants with eyes blind folded
需要把眼睛蒙上布条
by a black band
在佛殿五米外站好
were standing in five meters away from the main hall
一声令下 摸黑前行
and fumbling along the way
用手触摸到大殿门上
for touching the dragon orb
龙珠的人为胜者
on the door of the hall.
游戏热烈欢快地进行着
The game went on in a joyful atmosphere.
都已人到中年的我们
Middle aged participants
个个凝神屏气 手脚齐头并进
all played the game whole-heartedly
不管有没有寻到宝,都高兴得开怀大笑
and joyously
似乎回到了孩童时代
as we returned back
天真欢愉的模样
to innocent childhood.
傍晚 三圣殿前
At night,
一场消夏心灵纳凉晚会正式开始
a summer evening party was held in front of the main hall.
慧日禅寺的常住师父 居士
The monks, nuns, lay Buddhists
以及我们这些学员
and all of us
纷纷上台 相继以佛曲梵呗
came onto the stage to offer to the three jewels,
诗词 相声 舞蹈等艺术形式
parents and sentient beings in the form of chanting sutras,
供养三宝和父母有情
reciting poems, performing comic dialogue and dancing.
临时自发的晚会
As natural and simple as the temple,
如同这个自然简朴的寺院
the improvised summer evening party
虽无为而作,却惊起我们内心深处的一片沙鸥
inspired our heart profoundly without any intentions.
那俗世里久久遗忘的真情
The long forgotten true heart
自在的安然
and the feeling at ease
不经意间又纷纷呈现
occurred to us again.
在辞亲别爱的出家人的歌声里
With tears in our eyes, we listened to the song
我们噙着眼泪
of “Mama in the Candle Light” sung by the ascetic monk,
脑海里浮现着《烛光里的妈妈》
which reminded us of our own grey-haired mothers
苍苍白发 盼儿归家
expecting us to return back home.
那种强烈的共鸣
It inspired the strong love
激发出我们对父母热切的孝心
and devotion to our parents.
一首《稚心》干净的声线纯洁质璞
The clear voice of the song “Young Heart”
了若新生 令人心中不存杂念
made our life reborn without any disturbing thoughts.
才发现一直怀念
We didn’t feel at loss
一直追忆的过往
for now and for the past
在当时和现在都已不再惘然
when we looked back memories of old times.
本已还巢的孔雀
The peacocks returned from their nest to us,
再次给我们带来新奇和惊喜
standing gracefully on the roof
她婷婷立定在屋檐上
to enjoy the performance
从头至尾一直观看
from beginning to the end.
每个节目刚刚落幕
The peacocks couldn’t wait to tweet at once
没等观众鼓掌
to give applause to each performance
她第一个迫不及待的长鸣叫好
even before the audience did,
逗得大家捧腹大笑
which made the audience laugh out loud.
如此的灵性 让我们觉得
Such spirituality also made us realize
同一片蓝天下
that all creatures under the same blue sky
所有的生灵都有喜怒哀乐的情感
share the same emotions of pleasure, anger,
都有一样备具尊严的心识。
sorrow, joy and dignified consciousness. Tonight,
这个夜晚 空中虽然没有明月高挂
although the bright moon didn’t appear in the sky,
心中却有慧日普照
the wisdom sun of Huiri Temple was illuminating our heart.
这个七夕 别样的美丽惊艳
What an amazing Chinese Valentine’s Day for us
听闻佛法 如醍醐灌顶
to get enlightened and reborn
思维法义 得脱胎换骨
by learning the Dharma.
