为什么要发菩提心？Why Do We Vow to Develop Bodhicitta ?

　　菩提心就是发明心地，成佛的心。行菩萨道，是因为一切众生就是我们往昔的父母。发菩提心，无边资粮就可积累，地藏菩萨发的大愿望“地狱不空，誓不成佛”，十分感人，我们应随学大孝、大愿的地藏王菩萨，同时心中升起惭愧、策励之心。

Bodhicitta refers to the mindset of realizing our intrinsic nature and vowing to become a Buddha. The reason why we should practice the Boddhisattva path is because all sentient beings were our parents in past lifetime. Once Bodhicitta arises, countless resources for cultivation are accumulated. The great vow of Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva “unless the hells are empty he will not become a Buddha” is moving. We should emulate filial and aspirational Kshitigarbha Bodhisattva meanwhile feel remorseful and encouraging.
