宁静，是自己可以创造的
在无量劫的轮回中能有一个生命的安歇处，让我们体验本来的清净，这种机会是非常稀有的。当我们这颗轮回已久的心灵触碰到宁静的世界时，就会擦出火花。
Through the endless cycles of samsara spanning innumerable eons, to find a resting place for one’s life—where the intrinsic purity of our true nature can be revealed—is a most rare and precious opportunity. When our mind—wandering endlessly in samsara—encounters a world of serenity, it sparks a profound connection.
一个人能把生命置于这种清净的状态里，能去体悟清净的可贵，这也是超出轮回的一个机会。就像闪电会撕裂黑暗一样，它甚至会成为我们跳出苦海轮回的一道门，或一艘船。
To place one’s life in such purity and to realize its preciousness is also a chance to transcend cyclic existence. Like a flash of lightning tearing through the darkness, it can become the gateway to liberation from the ocean of suffering, or a vessel that carries us across.
宁静是随处都在的，只是我们缺乏一双发现宁静的眼睛，也没有意识到宁静的价值，就会错失这些机会，所以“千里马常有，伯乐不常有”。
Tranquility is always present, but we often lack the eyes to perceive it or the awareness to recognize its value. Without this discernment, we lose these opportunities, much like “swift horse are usually found but not the same as ‘Pak Lok’.”
寺院伴随我们的成长
The monastery accompanies us in our growth.
实际上，这种机会除了偶然地有，也可以必然地有。
当我们懂得珍爱宁静的时候，在繁忙中也可以找到宁静的蛛丝马迹，甚至我们自己也可以创造这种宁静的机缘。
In truth, such opportunities are not only occasional; they can also be created. When we learn to cherish tranquillity, we can find its traces even during the busyness of life. We can even create the conditions for tranquility ourselves.
佛教的道场犹如良田，只要播种，就会有收获。
A Buddhist center is like fertile soil—when seeds are sown, there will surely be a harvest.
收获之后就超越了寺院这样一个物理空间，我们每个人心灵的良田里就会产生殊胜的功德，伴随着我们在修行路上的成长。
印度的八大圣地，从佛陀降生、成道、转法轮、灵鹫山、竹林精舍、给孤独园、猕猴园，乃至佛升天处、下降处，跟我们慧日寺有什么差别吗？从物理空间上说有毫厘之隔吗？从时间上有隔阂吗？都没有的。
如果我们佛弟子能有一丝一毫的这种感受，都是无上清凉。
And when the harvest ripens, it goes beyond the physical space of the monastery. Within the fertile field of our hearts, excellent attributes arise, accompanying us as we grow along the path of practice.
The Eight Great Sacred Sites of India—where the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, turned the Wheel of Dharma, taught at Vulture Peak, Veṇuvana, Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī, and Monkey Grove, as well as the places of his descent from heaven and his final nirvana—how are they different from our Huiri Monastery? Are they separated by even the slightest physical distance? Are they divided by time? Not at all.
If we, as disciples of the Buddha, can feel even the faintest trace of this connection, it is already the perfect cooling and peace.
我爱刹那静
The Love of a Fleeting Stillness
我们坐在法堂里，能够止静片刻，无边的轮回苦海就有了岸，三界就有了光明。
When we sit quietly in the Dharma Hall and rest even for a moment, the boundless ocean of cyclic existence gains a shore, and the three realms are illumined with light.
文殊菩萨祂老人家讲：若人静坐一须臾，胜造恒沙七宝塔，宝塔毕竟化为尘，一念净心成正觉。庞大士讲：世人爱真金，我爱刹那静。金多乱人心，静见真如性。
As Bodhisattva Manjushri said, it is better for one to sit in meditation for just a short while, than to build seven-gem pagodas as many as sands of Ganges. Gem pagodas eventually will all turn to dusts, and yet one-minded tranquility leads to right awakening.” As Bodhisattva Pang said, people of the world love pure gold, while I the quietude of the moment. Gold in abundance befuddles the mind; the nature of true suchness is seen in quietude.
这片刻的安宁与清净，哪怕金山、银山、钻石山堆放在我们边上，我们也要舍掉，要坚定地皈依这刹那静。
In this brief moment of tranquillity and purity, even if mountains of gold, silver, or diamonds were piled beside us, we should set them aside without hesitation and resolutely take refuge in this fleeting stillness.
