“暮春之初，惠风和畅，群贤毕至，少长咸集。”2015 年 4 月 26 日，于书圣王羲之的故里——山东临沂，举办了“纪念弘一大师主题研讨会”，主持人：刘铭罡先生，对话特邀嘉宾：宁波慧日禅寺住持传喜法师，弘一大师的饰演者、年逾八旬的表演艺术家游本昌老先生，著名导演赵一澄先生。
‘In the early part of late spring, the breeze is gentle and the weather favourable; many noblemen, both young and old, have gathered here.’ On 26th April 2015, a seminar on the remembrance of Master Hong-Yi was held at Linyi, Shandong, the birthplace of the sage of Chinese calligraphy – Wang Xi-Zhi. Mr. Liu Ming-Gang was the moderator, with the special guests being: Master Chuan-Xi from Hui Ri Chan Monastery in Ningbo; Mr. You Ben-Chang, a performance artiste almost in his 80s who has played Master Hong-Yi before; and well-known director, Mr. Zhao Yi-Cheng.
三位嘉宾与听众分享自己的人生经验，倡导年轻人运用佛家的智慧，面对天灾人祸，实现无我利他，把内心的佛性外化到日常生活、客观外境中，从思想、性格、人生格局上提升自信，驾驭生命，让人生变得更有价值更有意义，从而完成生命的自我成长，最终实现自利利他、转凡成圣。
During that seminar,the three special guests shared their personal life experiences with theaudience, teaching and encouraging the youth to exercise Buddhist wisdom in theface of natural disasters and man-made calamities, and to put into practice thedoctrine of selflessness for the benefit of all others, such that one’s Buddha-naturewithin can be externalized into one’s everyday life and the subjectivephenomenal world. This will lead to an elevation of self-confidence in one’s perception,character and mind-set as life would be driven and led with more value andmeaning; a full completion of the process of personal cultivation; and finally,the transformation from the mundane into the sagely when one has put intopractice the doctrine of selflessness to the benefit of all others.

那么，传喜法师对弘一大师的“前世”“今生”的人格魅力及其孜孜寻求家国命运，最终达至“花枝春满·天心月圆”最高生命境界的一生，有着怎样的解读？
So what is Master Chuan-Xi’s understanding of the life of Master Hong-Yi which he led in two extremes, the appeal of his character, his continued pursuit of the nation’s well-being which culminated in the end at the pinnacle of his life when ‘spring was bursting on the tip of flowers, and the moon full in the middle of the sky’?
被追问“在路上”的传喜法师，又何以自称是“一报童还是端盘子的”？
Why has Master Chuan-Xi, who is ‘on the road’, called himself a ‘newspaper boy’ or ‘one who carries plates’?
临沂市佛协、各界人士 600 余人与会，让人们在艺术的人文情怀中有幸得到佛法的关怀与启示。近 3 个小时的互动，高潮迭起，赢得共鸣。
This meeting of about 600 - consisting of members of the Buddhist Association of the city of Linyi as well as people from all sectors of society – enabled the fortunate participants to feel, while being immersed in the cultural ambience of the arts, the care and concern Buddhism has for all and be inspired by it. The exchange which lasted almost three hours was full of highlights and it won the consensus of the audience.
受邀嘉宾的讲演，如同春天里洒下的甘霖，让大家在“真善美”的滋润中，给精神增添了丰富的营养，让心灵得到了升华。
The words from the guests were like dew that had fell from the sky in spring, letting everyone feel that they have been drenched with ‘truth, wholesomeness and beauty’, with their souls nourished and their spirits elevated.

这首歌，是传喜法师于 2008 年汶川大地震时创作的，为什么先来播放这首歌？
This song had been written by Master Chuan-Xi during the great earthquake of Wenchuan in 2008. Why have we played it?
昨天尼泊尔发生了强烈地震，目前为止已有 1500 余人丧生，中国境内也有同胞遇难。让我们首先为这些不幸遇难的中国同胞及所有遇难者，一齐默哀、祈祷 !
There was a strong earthquake in Nepal yesterday. More than 1,500 have perished up till now, and there have been deaths too on the Chinese border. Let us first observe a moment’s silence to pray for our unfortunate Chinese countrymen as well as all those who have passed away.
下面，请法师作简短开示。
Let us now have the master speak briefly on this.
传喜法师：为昨天下午两点多钟在尼泊尔发生的 8.1 级强烈地震的所有遇难者，为我们中国西藏樟木等一些地方也在此次强震中罹遭不幸的十几位遇难者同胞，让我们祈祷佛陀的慈光，接引所有遇难者，离苦得乐，往生净土！
南无阿弥陀佛 !
Master Chuan-Xi: For all those who have perished in the earthquake in Nepal which had measured 8.1 on the Richter scale, including the dozen or so of our countrymen from Zhangmu, Chinese Tibet, let us pray that all victims will be received by the light of compassion of the Buddha and will be led by it such that they will be able to escape suffering and gain bliss, and be reborn in the Pureland. Namo Amitabha!
主持人：现在请教一下传喜法师，在这种突然的灾难、变故中，从佛教的角度，您会如何看待？
Moderator: Let me seek advice from Master Chuan-Xi and ask him how should one look at such a sudden disaster and upheaval from a Buddhist perspective?
传喜法师：在一些先天的缺陷中，我们会发现，自己的能力常常很有限，甚至会发现我们自身的生命就有先天的缺陷。这些会提醒我们去思考：怎样才能提高自己的能力。无论帮人帮己，都是需要能力的，这也是教育家的动力。乃至现在科学探索的动力，就是要增加自我的能力，拓展未知的空间，甚至克服天灾人祸，用我们的能力去修复它。
Master Chuan-Xi: We find our abilities to be oftentimes limited, and discover even that there are inherent shortcomings in our own life. This will make us think of ways to enhance our abilities, whether it is to help our own or others. Such is also the educator’s driving force, and the scientist’s in his quest for discovery as well. The aim is to increase our ability such that we are able to open up unknown terrains, overcome natural disasters as well as man-made calamities, and conduct rebuilding and repair.
How to make yourself into someone with such ability?

精神，与毅力
无论做学生，还是生命的自我成长，当看到自己的缺陷时，就会变成发奋学习的动力，努力成为一个有能力的人。当你有能力用生命去做事，可以是利己的，也可以是利他的，再扩大范围，可以利于群体、利于大众。怎样让自己变成一个有能力的人？
Whether one is a student or somebody engaged in self-cultivation, we have to turn our shortcomings into a force to be more diligent in our learning so that we will be more capable. When you possess the ability to use your life to do things that benefit not only yourself but others as well, you are capable, in extension, of bringing benefits to communities and the world at large. How to make yourself into someone with such ability?
从思想上、体质上，如何身体力行，还是游老为我们做出了榜样，给予了我们启迪。游老，不仅让我们看到了他炉火纯青的演技，更让我们看到了他面对困难，如何巧妙地将困难演变为一种情景教育的智慧，看到了他能够去克服自身病痛的意志力。
Through his mind-set and conduct, Elder You has set us an inspiring example of how to actualize this. Not only has he shown himself to be endowed with exceptional acting skills, he has also let us have seen how he has been able, whenever he is faced with difficulties, to always transform his predicament into an opportunity for him to develop wisdom, and in so doing, to display great resolve in overcoming the suffering his physical illness has brought him.
《Spirit》
医生叮嘱他：4 月 30 号之前都要静养。但他超越了自己的身体，摆脱了阴影，驾驭自己，让自己保持在光明中，他具有这样一种毅力、一种精神。
The doctor advised him that he should be resting at home for the time being up to 30th April. However, he transcended his physical condition and pushed himself such that he could come out of the shadows and remain in brightness. Such is the perseverance and spirit he possesses.
我觉得“在利他中遇见自己”，首先要把自己培养得有能力利于他人，让利他成为自己的行为准则。赵导前面也说：灾区地震了，你背着包就去了，到时有可能比难民还惨。你拿什么去帮助别人？首先要做到自己不添乱。就是说，我们要把自己修炼成行为能力很强的人，首先能够把自己保护在安全状态中，不让别人担心。然后自己才有余力去帮助到别人，帮助的效果才能更好地展现出来。
I feel that for one to meet oneself while bringing benefits to others, one has first to cultivate the ability to benefit others such that it becomes the standard by which one’s conduct is being judged. Director Zhao questioned previously that if you just grab your haversack and proceed to the disaster zone, whether you would be sufficiently equipped to help the victims there? It is even possible that you will end up in worse dire straits than them. You have firstly to ensure that you are not creating more trouble. That is to say, we have to train ourselves to be persons of great capability such that we are firstly able to keep ourselves protected and safe, and not be a cause of worry for others. We are then able to have that extra strength to help others, and our help will be much more effective that way.
