记住你的名字 ——慧看电影《千与千寻》

在生命的长河里

我们见面了

但好像又没见面

你还记得谁

In the long river of life,

we met.

Yet, it feels like we have never met

Who else do you remember? 

如果有一天

你忘了自己的名字

忘记自己是谁

那该怎么办

If ever there comes a day that

you forgot your own name,

forgot who you are,

what should you do? 

电影《千与千寻》中，少女千寻和父母误入了一个奇异世界。父母因为贪欲而变成了猪，千寻历经种种考验，最终救出父母，回到人类世界。

In the movie <Spirited Away>, teen Chihiro stumbled upon a peculiar world with her parents. Her parents transformed into pigs because of their greed. Chihiro braved through the ordeals and eventually saved her parents, returning to the human world.

变成猪的父母，已经忘记自己是人类，不管千寻如何呼唤，都只是呼呼大睡。

Since her parents transformed into pigs, they had long forgotten that they were human. Despite Chihiro’s endless pleads, they remained soundly asleep.  

就像娑婆的轮回没有真正的相逢。你还记得谁呢？是前世的父母？还是我们自己？

Just like the samsara in Saha, there is no real reunion. Who else do you remember? Your parents from your past life? Or we, ourselves?

影片里，忘了名字的人就找不到回家的路；而忘了佛性，我们也会在轮回中久久迷失。

In the movie, one who forgets his own name will never be able to trace the path back home; when we forget our Buddha-nature, we remain perpetually lost in the cycle of Samsara. 

无量劫来，我们曾有过无数名字，但那都是假名，我们本名叫什么？如来、应供、正遍知、明行足、善逝、世间解、无上士、调御丈夫、天人师、佛、世尊。这才是我们的本来相貌。

Throughout endless kalpa, we have had taken on numerous names. But those names were fake. What is our true name? Tathagata, One who is Worthy of Offerings, Truly Omniscient, Perfect in Wisdom & Merits, Well Departed, Knower of the World, the Supreme One, Tamer of Men, Teacher of Heavenly Beings & Men, Buddha, World-honoured One. This is our true image. 

当千寻坐在单向行驶的“海原电铁”里，茫茫大海上，夕阳西下，列车穿梭在水面，车里的乘客安静而透明。一个接一个的站台像一座座孤岛，落寞地目送列车远去。

Chihiro sat in the one-way train fueled by the sea, upon the vast sea, beneath the sunset, the train chugged through this water landscape as the passengers in the cabin remained quiet and transparent. Every stop was like a lone island, watching on, bidding its desolated farewell as the train moved on. 

这个场景，就像是描述我们每一个人——我们在这里轮回，真实而又虚幻。

This scene seems to depict each and every one of us – we are here in Samsara, real, yet imaginary. 

白龙在千寻的回忆里想起自己真正的名字，他瞬间迎风蜕变。

Haku recalled his real name within the memories of Chihiro and transformed instantly. 

如果我们恢复了佛性，那就像白龙一样，每一个鳞片都会融化掉。忆念佛性，超越眼耳鼻舌身意，“见诸相非相”。当体验到“摩诃般若波罗蜜多”时，我们的眼耳鼻舌身意也会消融。

Should we regain our Buddha-nature, we would be like Haku, every one of the scales will melt away. Meditate upon the Buddha-nature, surpassing the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, “all forms seen are unreal”. When the “Maha Prajna Paramita” is experienced, our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind will melt away as well. 

“我执”的这个壳就是无量劫生死的根本。记住阿弥陀佛、南无（皈依）阿弥陀佛，把生命皈依到无量光无量寿，我们就有机会冲出这个壳。所以念一句阿弥陀佛，能消八十亿劫生死重罪。

This shell of “atma-graha (ego of oneself)” is the fundamental cause for the births and deaths that take place for endless kalpa.  Remember Namo Amitabha, Namo (Take refuge in) Amitabha, allow your life to take refuge in the infinite light and infinite life, and we will have a chance to break away from this shell. Hence, reciting a single word of Amitabha annihilates deadly sins from eight billion kalpas. 

影片最后，千寻和父母回到人类世界。从这一场离奇怪诞的旅程中走出，恍若隔世。

As the movie wraps up, Chihiro returned to the human world with her parents. It seems that they have emerged out of another world from this peculiar journey.

迷失了，人生就是一场回不去的旅程。在旅程中，记得住自己的名字，守得住自己的本心，你才能知道自己是谁。

When lost, life is like a journey of no return. During the journey, remember your own name, watch over your true (fundamental) heart, you will then come to realize who you are. 

“摩诃般若波罗蜜多”是什么？南无阿弥陀佛、真如、法性、文殊菩萨金色界是什么？你知道了，轮回的魔咒就不存在了。

What is “Maha Prajna Paramita”? What is the golden realm of Namo Amitabha, bhūta-tathatā (the true nature of dharma), the nature of dharma, Manjushri Bodhisattva? The Mara’s curse of Samsara no longer exists when you know the answer.
