大势至菩萨为什么叫我们要“都摄六根”?什么叫都摄六根?
在“六根门头”常能看到佛性,用佛性来“都摄六根”。这就是《心经》的第一个 ——“观”,要回光返照 ——“照”到,要把我们的佛性找到,找到之后,就不会迷在“眼耳鼻舌身意”了。所以观世音菩萨说,这叫“无眼耳鼻舌身意”。
正如古人所言:“我若无心于万物,何妨万物常围绕?”你觉悟到“眼耳鼻舌身意”都是佛性的显现,你觉悟到“色声香味触法”都是佛性的另一个名字,你不起“爱憎取舍”之心,所以“无眼耳鼻舌身意”、“无色声香味触法”。
As the ancients said, " If my mind remains unattached to myriad phenomena, what obstacles could arise from being surrounded by them?" When you realize that "eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind" are all manifestations of Buddha-nature, and that "form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma" are simply another name for Buddha-nature, then you cease to give rise to discriminating mind of attachment, aversion, acceptance, or rejection. Thus, there is "no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, or mind" and "no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharma."
