善師贊 Praise to the Wholesome Teacher

嗡 禮敬歸依諸佛身

OM…Homage to all Buddhas in whose body one seeks refuge!

 阿 禮敬歸依諸佛語

 AH…Homage to all Buddhas in whose speech one seeks refuge!

 吽 禮敬歸依諸佛意

 HUM…Homage to all Buddhas in whose mind one seeks refuge!

 哈利 禮敬歸依諸佛之事業總集

HRIH…Homage to all Buddhas in whose accumulated deeds one seeks refuge!

 頂禮大智佛曼殊師利法王尊

 Homage to the Buddha of Great Wisdom, Manjusri, the Honourable Dharma King!

 頂禮一切善知識

 Homage to all those with wholesome knowledge!

善師證悟法性身

 The wholesome teacher is enlightened to and realises the Dharma Body,

 總集三寶之恩德

 Whereupon the virtues and benefaction of the Triple Gems are accumulated.

 三根本海密嚴力

 The strength of the unrevealed adornments of the Ocean of the Three Roots,

 一切世界之頂嚴

 Is of utmost solemnness among all the worlds.

 大悲攝我苦浪子

 His great compassion has provided me, a suffering wanderer, with relief,

 賜於口糧與法食

 And bestowed me with food as well as the nutrition of the Dharma.

 諸根嚴麗心安樂

 Such that all my senses are well-adorned and at peace;

 雖在此岸猶淨土

And although I am on this shore, it is as if I am in the Pureland.

 師之住處即壇場

 Where the teacher dwells, it is our place of worship,

 三寶住世之所依

 Upon which is relied the Triple Gems to abide in this world

 方便有餘度眾生

To facilitate the conveyance to emancipation of myriad beings in their present lives,

 諸佛事業之顯現

And for all the deeds of the Buddhas to be manifested.

 說法聞法思而修

 He speaks on the Dharma that is to be contemplated upon and practised once it has been heard

 凡聖交參寂叢林

 By both ordinary worldlings and the holy ones who make up the imperturbable assembly,

 得法受用密嚴境

 Who receive the Dharma and enjoy the benefits of being in an unrevealed and greatly-adorned realm,  

 證佛同體常樂明

 And who realize the illumination of the ever-lasting bliss that results from being one with the Buddha.

 一切功德從師生

 All merits and virtues originate from the teacher;

 一切障礙師遣除

 All hindrances and obstacles are removed by him.

初心畢竟成佛際

 One’s original intention will ultimately result in Buddhahood,

大恩慈願恆攝護

 As one is eternally guarded by the great benefaction of his aspiration of loving-kindness.
