法音传遍三千界——释迦牟尼佛圣诞午斋开示|诸佛圆光菩提海,沐浴众生早成佛

  一年一度四月八,


  叶叶菩提妙莲华,


  佛子圣山同聚会,


  一念回光法王家。



The 8th day of the 4th month in lunar calendar arrives once a year with every leaf like the wondrous bodhi lotus, 

Descendants of the Buddha assembling here at the sacred mountain are back at the abode of the Dharma King with a single thought.

有智慧 | 处处文殊、叶叶菩提

我们今天齐聚一堂,一起来纪念本师释迦牟尼佛的圣诞。佛本无生,既然佛的体性是无生的,那佛从何处生呢?佛从我们众生的福德因缘中生,佛从祂的大悲愿力中生


We have come together this day to commemorate the anniversary of the Buddha’s sacred descending to this world. Buddha is actually birthless. Since the fundamental nature of the Buddha is birthless, where then, does the Buddha come from? Buddha arises from the affinity of blessings and virtues of us sentient beings; Buddha is born from the power of his great compassionate vow. 


这就像文殊菩萨起座一样,文殊菩萨本来是如如不动的,祂为什么要起座呢?文殊菩萨因大悲心故,从金刚菩提宝座而起,虽然起却如如不动,不动道场。佛陀也是这样,本自无生,因悲悯众生之苦、悲悯众生之迷惑颠倒,所以佛陀才降诞于此娑婆世界。


This is likened to Manjushri Bodhisattva arising from his seat. Manjushri Bodhisattva is supposedly unmoving, yet, why does he arise from his seat? Because of a great compassionate heart, Manjushri Bodhisattva arises from the vajra bodhi seat, but remains unmoving at the unwavering bodhimanda. The Buddha is as such too, basically birthless, yet descended upon this Saha world out of his sympathy with the sufferings, confusion and fallacies of sentient beings. 


佛陀虽然降生于此,但我们如果不给自己机会,我们也见不到佛。我们要忏悔业障、积累福报,才有可能亲见本师释迦牟尼佛。虽然我们常常强调戒、定、慧的重要性,但实际上修行当中无福不生慧,没有福报是开不了智慧的。所以,除了世间的禅定、出世间的禅定,我们还要定在善法之中。我们要在善业之中积累资粮、精进不懈。只要是好事、是善业,我们就要坚定不移地去做。只要一直做下去,那么我们的福报就会不断增长,智慧就会逐渐生出来。我们有智慧了,我们就见到佛了。


While the Buddha has descended here, we will not meet the Buddha if we do not give ourselves a chance. So, how can we then get to meet the Buddha? Repent of our karma and build up our blessings. While we often emphasize on the importance of precepts, samadhi and wisdom, in actual fact, wisdom does not arise if there is no blessing within practice, without blessings, wisdom does not sprout. Hence, in Samadhi, besides the mundane meditation and supra-mundane meditation, we have to practice samadhi within goodness. We need to accumulate our resources from the good karmas, and to be diligent. We should remain steadfast to do any deeds that are good, that are good karma. As long as we persevere, our blessings will grow and wisdom will then sprout. With wisdom, we will get to meet the Buddha. 


我们来到五台山也是一样,如果我们没有智慧是见不到文殊菩萨的。有智慧处处文殊、叶叶菩提,一沙一石、一草一花,都折射着文殊菩萨的般若光辉。


The same applies to our arrival at Mount Wu-tai. Should there be no wisdom, we do not get to meet Manjushri Bodhisattva. With wisdom, Manjushri Bodhisattva is omnipresent, every leaf is Bodhi. Every grain of sand, every piece of stone, every blade of grass or every stalk of flower – they refract the Prajna light of Manjushri.

回报=给予 | 沐浴=灌顶

我们既然皈依三宝了,我们就要在皈依佛的学处中去了解佛、认识佛;在皈依法的学处中去践行法;在皈依僧的学处中去恭敬僧。我们来到五台山,我们就是求这些的。


Since we have taken refuge in the Triple Gem, we should seek to understand and know the Buddha within the foundations of us taking refuge in the Buddha, put dharma into practice within the foundations of taking refuge in the dharma and respect the Sangha within the foundations of taking refuge in the Sangha. As we have arrived at Mount Wu-tai, these are what we should seek for. 


我们现在众善因缘具足,我们在座的出家师父以及护法居士菩萨们相聚在一起,这是福德殊胜的聚会。今天我们这么多人聚会到五台圣地,我们各自以自己的福德、虔诚,以我们积累的资粮,为佛陀献上香汤沐浴。


Now that the affinity of all good is adequate, as all of our (presently seated) monks, laypersons, dharma protectors and Bodhisattvas have come together, this is a gathering of magnificent blessings and virtues. Today, so many of us are gathering here at Mount Wu-tai. With each of our blessings, virtues and piousness and with the resources we have accumulated, we present them as the fragrant water to bathe the Buddha.


我们在给佛陀沐浴的时候,实际上我们就是在得到佛陀的灌顶。我们给予这个世界什么,世界就会回报我们什么。我们把至善的给佛,那我们就会获得至善、圆满的果报。以佛陀为殊胜对境的时候,我们就会获得圆满、解脱的人生。


As we bathe the Buddha, we are actually empowered by the Buddha. What we give to this world, this world shall repay us in kind. We give all that is good to the Buddha, in return, we too, get all that is good, a perfect effect. When we have the Buddha as a magnificent destination, we will obtain a perfect and liberated life. 


所以,今天既是佛陀的圣诞日,也是我们每个人自己修行的圣诞日。每次我在这里吃饭,他们都会给我夹一粒大枣。这寓意着什么?早生佛子啊。


So, while today is the day of the Buddha’s sacred descending, it also marks as the sacred day of our own practice. Each time I dine here, they will serve me a big jujube. What does this imply? To accelerate birth of the Buddha’s descendants. 


法王座下子子孙孙绵延不绝,这就是佛陀降诞人间的意义。


An abundance of posterity beneath the seat of the Dharma King, this is the significance of the Buddha’s descending upon the mortal world.

Final Wish: The halo of all Buddhas, a sea of Bodhi, showers upon sentient beings, advancing their attainment of Buddha-hood.
