A Better World Because of a Better You

In worldly dharma, we have subjective world and objective world. The so-called subjective world is the reflection of the objective world, and the so-called objective world sometimes is reflected out of subjective karmic force. Everything in the world is yellow in the eyes of a person who develops jaundice (a medical condition in which the skin and the white parts of the eyes become yellow), he subjectively reckons that the objective world is yellow, but the yellow in his eyes actually results from his condition of jaundice.

唯物和唯心也是相互的，不是固定不变的。当唯物成为主义，成为唯物的世界观时，它本身就是主观的一种理论，就是唯心的。唯心有理论的时候它就是唯物的，没有完全的绝对。

Closely related and interdependent, materialism and idealism are not immutable. When being material becomes materialism, transformed into a materialistic world outlook, it, in itself being a subjective theory, is idealistic; when being idealistic is formed into idealism, it is materialistic. As is shown, this is not completely absolute.

当我们生烦恼时看谁都不顺眼，高兴的时候觉得小草都在笑。通过修习佛法你如果能与极乐世界相应，你的世界就变成了极乐世界，佛的世界就映现在你的世界里。所以，主观和客观是相对的，是可以转化的，没有绝对的主观，也没有绝对的客观。

When we are upset, everyone rubs us the wrong way; when we are happy, even the grass greets us with a smile. If you correspond with the Land of Ultimate Bliss through the cultivation of the Buddha Dharma, the world you are in turns into the Land of Ultimate Bliss, worlds of Buddhas reflected in your own world. Therefore, subjectivity and objectivity are relative to each other and transformative between each other. There is neither absolute subjectivity nor absolute objectivity.

因陀罗网是《大方广佛华严经》里的概念。善财童子参到帝释天，看到帝释天王宫殿里的因陀罗网的景象，每一珠都珠珠相摄，映现在每一珠里。这个道理告诉我们，每个人都受世界的影响，同时每个人又影响着世界。

Indra’s jeweled net is a concept mentioned in Flower Adornment Sutra. The Youth Good Wealth saw what the indra’s jeweled net was like in the heavenly palace of the lord Sakra when he paid a visit there. Each bright pearl of the indra’s net shines upon one another, reflecting itself in other pearls, which demonstrates the truth that everyone is affected by the world while at the same time affecting the world they abide in.

佛教主张从根本上改变自己，而不是通过外在美好的口号和招牌去改变别人。每个生命通过修正自我内在的负能量，让自己发光发热来奉献世界，这叫正报；通过改变正报，来庄严国土，利乐有情，众生得到利乐这叫依报。

Buddhism maintains that we should fundamentally transform ourselves rather than transform others through nice external slogans or billboards. When every living being removes his internal negative energy and devotes himself to the world by radiating light and warmth, he generates proper retribution; when one gives gains and happiness to sentient beings through transforming proper retribution to maintain a solemn land and benefit sentient beings, he creates dependent retribution.

当自己改变的时候，我们的亲戚朋友、身处的世界也会随之改变，所以，世界会因为你的改变而变得美好。

When we ourselves are transformed, our relatives, friends and the world we abide in will be transformed accordingly, so the world is changing for the better because of a better you.
