这是潘多拉星球的故事，也是我们的故事 ——慧看电影之《阿凡达》

故事发生在2154年

当大自然被摧残得千疮百孔

地球资源已至枯竭

人类将目光投向了遥远的潘多拉星球

The story will take place in 2154

when Mother Nature will be brutally exploited

and the earth’s natural resources will be depleted.

Mankind then will have their sights set upon the faraway planet, Pandora.

潘多拉星球树木繁盛，美丽绝伦，有丰富的矿产资源。这里生活着纳威人。他们围绕着一棵家园树居住，身材高大，有天生的强化碳纤维骨骼。

Pandora with a dense forestry, beautiful and rich in mineral resources is inhabited by the Na’vi. They lived around a large home tree called Kelutral, possessing tall yet slender physiques, with the inherent strong carbon fiber in their bones. 

在潘多拉星球，每棵树都相互联系，形成一张巨大的信息网络。家园树下，埋藏着丰富的矿产资源。这正是人类想要掠夺的目标。

On Pandora, every tree is intertwined, forming a vast network of communication. Beneath the home tree lies the vast storage of a mineral called unobtainium - something that humans are preying on.

为了获取潘多拉星球的矿产，科学家将人类DNA和纳威人DNA结合在一起，制造了阿凡达，成为人类在潘多拉星球上自由活动的化身。

To rob Pandora of its mineral, scientists merged the genetic DNA of humans with that of the Na’vi, creating a hybrid known as the Avatars - the replicas of humans who then roam about Pandora freely. 

杰克的哥哥是DNA捐献者，有自己的阿凡达，但他在出发前遇刺身亡。于是，他的双胞胎弟弟，一个双腿瘫痪的前海军陆战队员杰克被选中了。

Jakes’s elder brother donated his DNA and thus had his own avatar. However, prior to his departure, he was assassinated. Thus, his twin brother, a paraplegic marine veteran, was chosen.  

人类急切地想开发矿藏，他们让杰克尽快查明纳威人的防御体系及其弱点。在博士格蕾丝的带领下，杰克熟练掌控了自己的阿凡达化身，在潘多拉森林中好奇地探索。他偶遇了纳威族的公主涅提妮，通过她了解了更多潘多拉星球的知识。

Humans were anxious to develop the mineral deposits and had Jake investigate the defence system and weaknesses of the Na’vi in the shortest time possible. Under the leadership of Dr Grace, Jake was able to control his Avatar replica proficiently, curiously exploring the forestry of Pandora. He chanced upon the Princess of the Na’vi, Neytiri, and developed a deeper understanding of the planet, Pandora, through her. 

在这个过程中，有一个片段引人深思。杰克在潘多拉森林中与队友失去联系。黑夜降临，他点起火把，却发现他走到哪里，野兽就追到哪里。危险时刻，纳威族的公主出现，打掉了他手中的火把。这时杰克才发现，原来黑夜不黑，所有植物都在放光。

During this process, there was a scene that was deeply thought-provoking. Jake lost contact with his team mates within the forestry of Pandora. As night fell, he lit up the torch, only to find himself being chased by wild beasts, wherever he went. At that moment of danger, the Princess of Na’vi appeared, knocking off the torch of fire from his hand. It was only then that Jake came to realize that it was not dark during the night, all the plants were emitting light. 

这是一个很有意思的隐喻，特别是修行人，要思考这个问题。

This is an extremely interesting metaphor. Practitioners, in particular, should contemplate on this. 

观音菩萨告诉我们：无眼耳鼻舌身意。但我们呢，就指望这个眼耳鼻舌身意。如果哪天你把眼睛蒙起来，有人告诉你：不蒙也可以，不要相信你的眼睛，你看到的未必是真实的，都是幻觉，你相信吗？

Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva has told us: there is no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. Yet, we count on these eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body & mind. If you were to blind-fold yourself one day, and somebody comes along, telling you that it is ok not to blind-fold, not to trust your eyes, for what you see may not be the truth as they are all illusions – would you believe that? 

科学家告诉我们，我们的眼睛有0.05至0.2秒的视觉暂留。我们看到常亮的日光灯，看到电视，看到电影，这都是视觉暂留所产生的幻觉。

Scientists told us of the persistence of vision, that our eyes retain images for about 0.05 to 0.2 seconds. The lit fluorescent lamps that we see, the televisions and the movies – they are all illusions created by the persistence of vision. 

我们应当超越感官的幻觉。只有超越了这样的幻觉，才能够看到真理。

We should surpass the illusion of senses. The truth only surfaces when one surpasses such illusions.

纳威人注重和天地万物心灵的连结，过着简朴天然的生活。他们有一根形似马尾辫的神经接口，可以和动植物建立心灵交流。“能量就如某种连结网络，万物都是息息相关的。”“生命都是由万物所生成的，总有一天，生命将回到最原始的起点。”

The Na’vi value the spiritual connection with all lives of the universe, living a frugal and natural life. They have a queue (tsaheylu) which resembles the braided hair, and it is the nerve interface which allows them to make a connection with all living things. “Energy resembles some kind of network connection; all life is interconnected”. “Life is formed by all forms of lives. And the day will come  when all lives return to ground zero”.

人和万物、人和人的大脑间会不会通呢？本来会通的。但我们自私自利，执着于“我”，就“一叶障目，不见泰山”了。

Are the brains between human and all lives or human and human, connected? Initially, yes. But because of our selfishness and our obsession over “Me”, it turns out to be “the eye being covered by a leaf, obstructing the view of the Taishan Mountain.” 

在和纳威人相处的过程中，杰克爱上了这里。他决心保护潘多拉的和平，扫除人类将带来的危机。但人类在利益的驱动下，放弃与纳威人的和平协商，派战机摧毁他们的家园树。

During the period when Jake lived with the Na’vi, he fell in love with the place. He was determined to protect the peace of Pandora and to sweep away the disaster that would be brought upon them by the humans. Yet, tempted by their own benefits, humans dropped the peace treaty with the Na’vi, invading their home tree with fighter planes. 

这样的暴行不但没有削弱纳威人的斗志，反而使他们联合起来，同仇敌忾。杰克和格蕾丝博士也带着他们的阿凡达分身，加入了这场战斗。最终，纳威人打败了人类，将采矿公司遣送回地球。

Such acts of violence did not strip the Na’vi off of their fighting spirit. Instead, it united them against the common enemy. Jake, together with Dr. Grace, led their avatars into this war as well. The Na’vi defeated humans eventually, sending the mineral company back to earth. 

纳威人将自己的感受器与神树相连，借助神树的力量，把杰克的灵魂转移到他的阿凡达化身上。杰克作为一个真正的纳威人留在了潘多拉星球。

Through the use of their own queues, the Na’vi made a connection with the Tree of Souls, tapping on its energy to transfer the consciousness of Jake to his avatar. Jake then stayed on in Pandora as a true Na’vi. 

这部电影讲的是潘多拉星球的故事，又何尝不是在讲我们这个地球的故事。纳威人的家园树就像我们的文化大树，人类就栖息在这棵大树下。所以文化是很重要的，它滋养着我们人类，给予我们相互依存的家园。

While this film depicts the story of the planet, Pandora, isn’t it depicting the story on this earth of ours as well? The home tree of the Na’vi is like the great cultural tree of ours, with humans resting under it. Thus, culture is of utmost importance, it nourishes us, mankind, providing us with a homeland in which our existence is dependent on each other.
