做好人的自信是脚踏实地修出来的

这个世界上是需要好人,还是需要坏人?会把好人饿死吗?物以稀为贵,这世界上好人多,还是坏人多?你要做好人,那就是“珍稀保护动物”,哪里会饿死?全心全意为众生的人,不会饿死。 做好人,你的思想言行都有无量的加持。


By being a good person, your thoughts, speech and actions are bestowed with infinite blessings.


有人说:“师父,我们佛教徒是少数,这世界上大多数人都不信佛,我们学佛不吃亏吗?我们学佛,我们是少数分子啊,不被人欺负吗?”不会的,我们中国有一句话叫“人善人欺天不欺,人恶人怕天不怕”,更何况我们学佛的人有诸佛菩萨天地善神护佑。  


In China, there's a saying: "Kind people may be bullied by others, but never by the heavens; evil people may be feared by others, but never by the heavens." All the more so, we Buddhists have the protection of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and all the benevolent deities of heaven and earth.


要不要做好人啊?你要想做,你内心里要好好地刻苦学习!不要只是自己有个心愿,外表我是好人,这个好人肯定是“冒牌货”。好人不是喊出来的,要脚踏实地忏悔我们自己的业障。我们无量劫来是不是好人?我们无量劫来大多数都不是好人,那我们在想做好人之前,从今天想做好人了,我们就要忏悔过去的业障,改变自己的习气。 


So, should we strive to be good people? If you truly want to be a good person, you must be committed to practice so with a determined mind! Don't just harbor the wish to be good or display an outward image of goodness—that kind of "good person" is a "counterfeit" for sure. True goodness isn’t proclaimed; it’s cultivated through steadfast repentance for our own karma. Have we always been good people over the countless lifetimes? Most of us are not. The prerequisite to becoming good people, starting from today - we must repent for our past misdeeds and transform our ingrained habits.

我学佛了,我是好人了,我在社会上也不能贬低别人,“你是坏蛋,我是好人,我是学佛的。”不可以的。因为你所谓的“坏人”,哪一天觉悟了,甚至可能会比你还好。你自认为自己很好,骄傲自满,哪一天我们自己堕落了。所以不能认为别人是不好的,只能自己回光返照,“好”和“不好”不是来衡量别人的,而是来衡量自己的。所以,要以理解的眼光来看别人,要以很谨慎,甚至小心忏悔的心态来反省自我,这样子才能被称作是“好人”。不是整天认为自己是好人,然后说别人是不好的,那样这个社会就会不和谐了。


Practicing Buddhism and being a good person doesn’t mean looking down on others by labeling them as "bad" while seeing ourselves as "good", as practitioners of Buddhism. It is not allowed. After all, those we consider "bad" today might be awakened some day and even surpass us in goodness. Conversely, if we become proud or complacent, we could end up in depravation. Hence, do not judge others as "bad", instead, we should turn inward, examining ourselves. "Good" and "bad" are not standards to measure others by—they’re measures for us to reflect on ourselves. Therefore, we should view others with understanding and reflect on ourselves with cautious, sincere repentance. Only in this way can we be truly called "good people." Thinking of ourselves as inherently "good" and others as "bad" only creates a disharmonious society.

纵使你觉得我要做好人了怎么这么难呢?我以前做坏人的时候,我以前做常人的时候,别人怎么样,我也怎么样,我觉得还能够生活。现在我要做好人了,有点寸步难行的感觉,好像别人看我们的眼光也怪了。不要紧,要有这个过程,尽量的我们对自己高要求,回光返照,用佛法来观照自我。所以,我们前面皈依的时候要念“自性众生誓愿度”,回归自性,自己能决定自己。   


Even if you find it difficult to be a good person—perhaps it feels harder than living as an ordinary person, doing the same as others—it’s okay, now that you want to be a good person, the path may feel obstructed at times, or you may feel that others look at you differently, don't worry—there is a period of adjustment. Hold yourself to a high standard, turn inward, use the Dharma as a mirror for self-reflection. Hence, when we take refuge in the Triple Gems, we recite: "I vow to liberate all beings within my true nature." To return to our true nature, one is able to decide for oneself.

对他人是影响感染,家里的亲人,你只能感染他、感动他。你说他是我儿子,我把他吊起来打一顿,行不行?是你儿子也不行。不要说你儿子,你养的一条狗,你把它吊起来打一顿,在国外也是犯法的,马上动物保护组织会来,然后依照法律规定剥夺你养狗的资格,把你的狗没收掉,给有爱心的人养。


With others, we can influence and inspire them, with our family and loved ones, you can only influence them by touching their heart.


因为我们“充电”不足,我们自我善的东西太少,所以不足以感动别人,这个需要忏悔的,这才是我们世间一种正道。并不是说我拿起拳头来、我拿起枪杆、我拿起飞机大炮,不是那样,暴力没有办法换来和平,以暴制暴是人类多少次检验过的,这不是正确的方法。要以真心来换真心,去感染别人。


Because we have not "recharged" enough, we lack sufficient inner goodness and are therefore unable to truly touch others. This is something we must repent for, as it represents the true path in this world. It does not mean we should raise fists, wield guns, or resort to planes and cannons. Violence cannot bring peace; humanity has tested the "eye for an eye" approach countless times, and it is not the correct way. Instead, use sincerity to reach others' hearts and inspire them.


像我们国家现在也是讲法制。要讲法律,比法制更高的是什么?“德制”。我们中国五千年的文明所在就在于“德制”,以德养人,修身齐家,以德来自我熏陶,修身齐家来感染这个世界,这是我们中华文化的精华所在。我们中国有很多传统的节日,积淀了博大精深的文化内涵,所以传统文化的精髓我们在学佛当中也能感悟到一点。


The essence of our 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization lies in the concept of "virtue-based governance." By nurturing people with virtue, cultivating oneself, and harmonizing one’s family, we inspire the world through self-refinement and family harmony. These ideals represent the very core of Chinese culture.
