是琉璃，还是泥巴？成为法器需要你很好的配合

越是珍贵自己越是要相应。

很多我们在座的佛教徒都是，我要找好师父，我要找如佛一般的师父，我要找神通广大、辩才无碍、智慧无边、慈悲无量的师父，你也不看看自己有没有具备这样的德行，你要找那样的师父！佛菩萨尽虚空遍法界无处不在，无处不有，你自己有没有德行见这样的师父？

We should match up to what we find precious, the more precious it is, the more we should strive to live up to it and accord with it. Many of the Buddhist followers here share a common mindset: we seek great masters, those who are Buddha-like—vast in spiritual powers, unparalleled in eloquence, boundless in wisdom, and immeasurable in compassion. But do we ever reflect on whether we ourselves possess the virtues to deserve such a master? Buddhas and Bodhisattvas pervade the entire Dharma Realm, present in all spaces and times. Yet, do we have the moral cultivation to encounter and recognize such a master?

你如果自己姿态调整好了，真实的、如理如法，是个法器，真是法器不可能没有甘露的。

反过来说，狮子乳入一般的器皿，器皿会爆裂掉，懂不懂这个道理？狮子乳要用琉璃器来装，狮子乳代表佛法，你不是极好的世间最珍贵的法器。

If you adjust your own attitude, being genuine and in accordance with the Dharma and rites, you become a true Dharma vessel. A true Dharma vessel can never lack the sweet nectar of wisdom. Conversely, if you pour lion’s milk into an ordinary vessel, the vessel will burst. Do you understand this principle? Lion’s milk, which represents the Dharma, must be held in a crystal-clear vessel. If you are not a most desirable and precious Dharma vessel in the world, how can you contain such profound teachings?

琉璃是什么东西里出来的？琉璃是水晶，这些非常珍贵的石头里面提炼出来的，而且只能提炼一次，不可能第二次，第二次的就不叫琉璃了，里面就有水泡，再下面就是玻璃。

琉璃的价值在哪里？就是因为要很珍贵的矿物质，然后只能够在很精密的工艺下，一次成型不能回收。

Where does colored glaze come from? Colored glaze is derived from a precious material—crystal. The first extraction from crystal is called colored glaze. If it is refined a second time, it is no longer called colored glaze; instead, it will contain bubbles. Further refinements beyond that result in glass. Where does the value of colored glaze lie? It lies in the rarity of the minerals used, the precision required in the crafting process, and the fact that it can only be made once, without the possibility of recycling.

我们佛教徒也是这样，大家遇到师父，信心很好就算不错；有的也不过如此，电视里看蛮不错、蛮庄严的，看到也不过如此；有的虽然升起极大的信心，我们一见面就做梦，就怎么样，见了面之后也是得到很大加持，但是有时候一不小心，这个法器就会出问题，第二次再来就不叫琉璃了，这个很可惜！

We Buddhists are like this. Some of us have a strong sense of faith when we meet our masters, and that’s already quite good. Others find the masters to be just average, thinking the masters seem solemn and impressive on TV, but in person, they’re nothing special. Some, however, feel an immense sense of faith. They say they had dreams or other extraordinary experiences after meeting the masters, and they felt truly blessed. But sometimes, even with such a strong connection, a moment of inattention can cause problems with the Dharma Vessel. When they visit the masters again, it’s no longer the same. It’s no longer “colored glaze.” It’s a great pity.

全天下我们有缘的众生，能够师父和徒弟配合那么好，成为琉璃的，是很少的很少的，99%都是不成器的，最多成为个玻璃就算不错，没有什么杂质，有点气泡，也就算不错的。

That’s why sometimes I feel a deep pain in my heart. Why? Among all the karmically connected beings in the world who have the fortune to meet their masters, only a very few can truly cooperate well and become like colored glaze. The vast majority, 99%, fall short. If they can even become like glass—free of impurities and with just a few bubbles—that’s already considered quite good.
